As 2016 comes to a close I find myself thankful once again.  I KNOW that I have the most wonderful customers in the world.  I get to know so many of you.  Sometimes because of the stories that accompany the pieces I create but sometimes it is just because of the open heart and soul that you come to the table with.  Thanks for letting me get to know you all.  I am very blessed to be able to do what I do and without you it would not be possible. 

One of my hot sellers for this Christmas season were my Native American flute ties so I am going to feature them here and tell you that I hope to grow and improve this line in the coming year. 

The flute ties that I make are made for two reasons.  First for functionality.  By tying the leather over the third hole of the flute you are able to convert the flute from a five hole to a six hole flute.  Some prefer one over the other and some music is only available in one or the other.  By using the leather  it is easy to convert it when needed.  You can also use it to hold the flute block on and in place, though some people secretly use a rubber band underneath of the leather for tightness.  The second reason for flute ties is purely for appearance.  Why not put some fringe on it?  The fringe just seems to go with the music wafting through the air. 

Tribal designs on the flute ties are very popular and very attractive.  Tribal designs can be branded (burned) into any color of leather except black or really dark brown.  The flute ties can be customized and personalized too.  Initials, animal totems, animal tracks, symbols, and words can all be added.

For those of you who don't play the Native American flute, there are still many ways for you to enjoy their music.  Players and enthusiasts gather all over the world to share the beautiful music.  These gatherings, called flute circles, are usually free and open to anyone.  Sometimes you even get lucky and find a flute seller who will have flutes that you can try and buy.  There is nothing like seeing this up close and personal.  It is not the same as listening to a cd.  Besides, people who play flutes are interesting people and a fun group that you won't want to miss!  You can check this link to find a flute circle by state or just google flute circle and your nearby town. http://www.worldflutesociety.org/flute_circles_clubs_and_groups

Of course one thing leads to another where flutes are concerned.  After you get your first flute and go to a flute circle you realize that you are going to have to have a bag to carry your instrument in.  You don't want it to get dirty or dinged up on your travels.  Of course I make those as well.....that is how I started this business, making a flute bag for my own flute. There are different styles of bags, some that hang long down the side of the body with a shoulder strap, some sling style where the strap goes end to end.  The options are endless here as well.  There are many colors of leather and ornamentation that can be done and you can make these very personal.  

Flute music is very spiritual and heartfelt.  It comes from the core of the person playing and it is easy to let your spirit and emotion run free when you are playing the flute. So as 2017 makes it arrival, I hope that you find ways this year to let your spirit run free, that you stretch yourself, grow into new things, and be all that your Creator has made you to be.  Blessings to you in 2017.
